SBTI compatibility β
where does the score come from?
"Will the two of us click?" SBTI scores how close two people's tendencies are. Here is how compatibility is calculated and how to use the result wisely.
Compatibility is set by 'tendency distance'
Every SBTI type has a unique 15-dimension pattern measuring Self, Emotion, Attitude, Action and Social. Compatibility between two types is calculated by how close those patterns are (how short the distance is). The differences across all dimensions are summed, and the smaller the sum, the higher the score.
So scores range from 20% to 100%. Closer to 100% means more similar and comfortable; a lower score means more different tendencies.
What the relationship labels mean
Depending on the score, the relationship gets one of these names.
| Label | Feel |
|---|---|
| Soulmates | The closest grain β you click without words |
| Besties | Easy even over the long haul, like a best friend |
| Good Match | Gets along smoothly with little conflict |
| So-so | A mix of matching and differing parts |
| Touch and Go | Needs effort; tone matters |
| Polar Opposites | Opposite enough to clash β but plenty to learn |
'Polar opposites' isn't a bad thing
A low score is nothing to be disappointed about. Different tendencies mean you can fill in strengths the other lacks. The cautious Thinker (THINK) and the driven Go-Getter (GOGO) have a different grain, but when one stalls the other pushes β a great pairing.
